Emergency Notification Solution

Emergency Notification Solution

Businesses often shy away from installing an emergency notification solution because of the perceived high costs involved.  In the past it was true that installing a communications system that could broadcast messages throughout a property was a very expensive exercise.  This is because there was a lot of wiring involved and connecting the system to the various buildings could be very difficult.  Land would need to be dug up, and walls altered to put the wiring in a place where it would not interfere with the property.  This cost of this process could add up to hundreds of dollars.

Not only was this exercise expensive, it was also very inconvenient.  Business would need to be disrupted while the emergency notification solution was being installed.  This would also end up costing the company a lot of money in lost productivity.

Fortunately, technological advances have eliminated much of the cost and inconvenience of installing communications systems in a property.  Many systems these days are now completely wireless, which means that the property doesn’t need to be altered in any way at all.  Whereas in the past trenches would have been needed to house the underground wiring systems, now the messages can be transmitted through the air via a UHF or VHF radio frequency.  The message is then broadcast in real-time through a PA system.

This type of emergency notification solution is incredibly easy to install and operate.  They can generally be fitted into most properties in less than a day.  This means that the impact on regular business operations is minimal.  Choosing a wireless communications method will save you or your business a lot of money.  The main reason for this is that there is a lot less equipment involved.  All that you will need is a receiver unit with a large antenna that is designed to pick up the radio messages.  This receiver unit is then attached to one or two PA speakers.  The direction and the volume of the speaker systems can be modified according to the specifics of the property.  A larger property may need a larger emergency notification solution.  However with wireless technology this simply means installing more receiver units and PA speakers so that the message is able to be heard over the entire area.

The only other part that you need is the transmitter, which is the device that is used to send the message to the receiver unit.  The transmitter can be either a two-way handheld device, a base intercom station, or a device fitted to a vehicle.  The variety in the choice of transmitters is another way that you can tailor your communications methods to perfectly suit your business conditions.

A further advantage of using wireless technology in an emergency notification solution is that it is much more secure and reliable.  Wires have a tendency to rust and erode, particularly when they are buried underground.  This can mean that the systems don’t work as well as they’re supposed to, or that you need to spend a lot more money on repairing or replacing broken equipment.  Investing in a wireless solution will save you a lot of money in the long term.
